South Bank from Home

March 17th, 2020 | by Tom Harrow-Smith

South Bank from Home

We know it’s not the easiest of times for everyone, that goes without saying. As we see many of our beloved South Bank venues, attractions and institutions close their doors for the time being, we want to share all the amazing ways you can still enjoy South Bank from your home or wherever you may be spending your next few days and weeks.

This is a tough time for all of us and we want to help anyway we can; whether that’s sharing photos of South Bank views for those who may be missing their regular stroll down Queen’s Walk on the riverfront, sharing stories and videos from the archives of your favourite theatres or venues or simply showing you different ways you can still engage with the area digitally.

We know it won't be the same as being in South Bank yourself, but we wanted to do what we could in the circumstances to help you still feel connected.

  • Discover the Nightingale 2020 Exhibit Online

The museum may be closed for now, but that doesn't stop you from discovering more about the Mother of Modern Nursing in the year of her 200th birthday. Florence Nightingale's legacy and practices are more relevant than ever in these challenging times, after all, she pioneered the hand washing advice that is still considered best practice over a century and a half on!

In their special exhibition, you will find out about objects, people and places which tell interesting stories about Florence’s life and legacy. You’ll discover artefacts from her life, people she both inspired and challenged, and places she helped to shape.

Click on the different sections of her famous coxcomb diagram to explore various aspects of her life and legacy.
