Where to Stay? A guide to the Best Hotels in South Bank

There’s so much to see and do here that you’ll need a few days to appreciate all that London’s cultural quarter has to offer, and with a selection of great hotels to choose from you can wake up to views of the River Thames every morning.

Don’t miss world-class attractions that will be a treat for all ages, such as the Coca-Cola London Eye and SEA LIFE London Aquarium, which stand shoulder-to-shoulder with cultural icons including the National Theatre, the Southbank Centre and IWM London. Plus, of course, you can explore the river and beyond with boat trips and cruises from South Bank’s Millennium Pier, or browse the quirky independent shops and boutiques in Gabriel’s Wharf and OXO Tower.

And when you get hungry – or  fancy a little liquid refreshment – then you’ll be spoiled for choice: stylish cocktail bars and award-winning restaurants will tantalise sophisticated palates, while the bustling Southbank Food Market offers a dazzling array of international street food, perfect for eating on the hoof!

  • Sea Containers London

The Sea Containers Hotel based in the famous building that shares its name, combines modern, luxurious rooms with 1920s-style cruise-ship glamour. In fact, the whole place oozes a style and sophistication that matches South Bank's artistic vibe. You will be immediately drawn to the giant, copper-clad wall inspired by the hull of a ship, running from outside the building, through to the lobby and on to the river side of the hotel. Sea Containers riverside location offers stunning views of the London skyline including St Paul's Cathedral, with their river-view balcony suites creating the illusion that you're floating on the Thames.

Situated next door to OXO Tower Wharf, its location means it's the ideal spot to explore South Bank's major sights and beyond.  However, with the temptation to be pampered in the on-site Agua Bathhouse & Spa, dine in style at the Sea Containers Restaurant or sample some innovative cocktails at the iconic rooftop 12th Knot bar, you could be forgiven for not wanting to leave the hotel!
