South Bank Employers' Group (SBEG) is a unique partnership of eighteen of the major organisations in South Bank, Waterloo and Blackfriars, with a long-term commitment to improving the everyday experience of the area for employees, visitors and residents alike. This membership organisation also delivers the services of South Bank Marketing Group, South Bank Venues and the South Bank Business Improvement District (BID).

South Bank Marketing Group is a sub-group of SBEG that oversees the destination marketing of the area. Established over 14 years ago, it is one of the longest standing and most successful tourism consortiums in the capital and brings together the area’s attractions, cultural venues, museums, hotels, transport providers and other relevant organisations through its commitment to promoting the South Bank as a destination.

The role of the Group is to:

  • Provide destination leadership
  • Maintain and grow South Bank’s profile as one of the capital’s top destinations
  • Increase visitor dwell time and spend throughout the year
  • Build strategic alliances which enhance the area’s profile and influence
  • Influence local public realm schemes which impact on visitors

The South Bank Business Improvement District (BID) is an organisation established and run by local businesses to improve the commercial conditions of the South Bank area. Amongst other services, the role of the BID is to:

  • Promote the area and its individual businesses to a wide audience
  • Provide street cleaning and graffiti removal
  • Provide a uniformed patrol service to deal with illegal trading, petty crime and antisocial behaviour.

The South Bank Venues group is a sub-group responsible for overseeing the marketing of the area as a business tourism destination.

The role of the Group is to:

  • Promote South Bank as a destination for business tourism, meetings, events, incentive travel, conferences, photos shoots and filming
  • Increase enquiries and bookings for member businesses
  • Facilitate mutually beneficial networking and business referrals between members
  • Identify common issues which require lobbying effort with relevant stakeholders

The Marketing team also manages SBEG and the BIDs’ corporate communications including publications, event organisation, managing and e-communications, briefing sessions and destination training.
