Alluring jewellery, ranging from classic elegance to the experimental edge of design
oxo tower wharf
JeDeCo (Jewellery Designers’ Collective) has been in the OXO Tower since 2012, showcasing and selling over 20 members’ unique and individual jewellery work.
With time the collective has evolved into a strong creative force due to its mantra - Jewellery Design Diversity. With the vast number of styles, materials used and backgrounds of the designers, one shop really does cater for all.
JeDeCo prides itself with its destination gallery, synonymous with innovative design straight from the bench. Not only do all the designers hand-make their pieces in the UK, but they are also on hand in the shop offering friendly and expert advice.
Traditionally crafted hand made jewellery constructed of Sterling Silver, 24 carat gold and vibrant gemstones.
oxo tower wharf
Having studied at the Arts and Crafts College in Vienna, Josef set up his own studio in London and opened the OXO Tower showroom in 2008. Josef’s sculptural and geometric forms are predominately made in sterling silver with 24 carat gold overlay, fused together by using traditional techniques.
The abstract texture that results reveals the intense colour of the 24ct gold, while contrasting with the gentle and cool shimmer of the silver. Vibrant gemstones, carefully chosen for their unique quality and cut, form the central aspect of every piece. Each and every ring, pair of earrings or cufflinks is entirely handmade using time honoured goldsmith’s skills, resulting in minimalist, wearable jewels for both women and men.
His collections can also be viewed at selected galleries throughout Europe, such as Elsa Vanier in Paris, Galleri Hoff in Copenhagen, Orro in Glasgow. Kath Libbert in Saltaire, Contemporary Applied Arts in London.
Lauren transforms vintage cloths into magical collages.
Oxo Tower Wharf
As a self-taught artist working with cloth, Lauren Shanley developed a niche in the fashion and textile world with her unique way of creating fabric.
Shanley started collecting vintage fabric when she arrived in London in 1985 from her native New Zealand. At that time there was an abundant supply, particularly from the 1950s.
Shanley often works with recycled materials, creating vivid and colourful collages which are appliquéd, hand and machine embroidered, stitched and embellished into layers of colour and texture.
Working instinctively, Shanley trusts an organic process which has evolved into using fabric like paint, cutting and collaging each individual piece. Travelling the world whenever she can, Shanley collects textiles, figurative imagery, tribal art and folk art, all of which provide an endless source of inspiration, as do her clients from many different countries around the world.
Working on a commission basis from her studio/shop, Shanley creates fabric and wedding dresses, jackets, coats, cushions, handbags, curtains, quilts, vessels and wall pieces.
