Lambeth Palace Garden Open Days 2023

Lambeth Palace has one of the largest private gardens in London. The palace has been the official residence of the Archbishops of Canterbury since 1197 and the 10 acre gardens are one of the oldest in England.

During the summer Lambeth Palace hosts open garden days on the first Friday of every month. These are a great opportunity to see this historic building from a different angle and to enjoy these very special gardens. Highlights of the grand gardens include a formal courtyard with an historic white Marseilles fig tree that was planted in 1556, a parkland-style garden area with woodland and native planting, the formal rose terrace and the scented chapel garden. On open days you can also join a free guided tour of the gardens led by one of the gardening team.

Dogs are welcome and there are refreshments on sale inside the gardens. Note that security searches are in operation.

Coronation special – Lambeth Palace Garden and Library Open Day 
Fri 2 June, 12 noon–4pm
The Lambeth Palace Library and Gardens join forces for a special open-day that includes guided tours of both the palace gardens and the state-of-the-art library building. There's also crafts and cookie decorating for kids and an opportunity to visit Lambeth Palace Library's new exhibition that explores the history of British coronations.  Entrance is free. North Lambeth Parish Fete
Sat 24 June from 12:30pm–4:30pm
This open garden day is held in conjunction with the North Lambeth Parish and the event includes a parish dog show, raffles, bouncy castle, tug of war, food and drink stalls, live music and a Pimms tent. Tickets £5, kids £2, concessions £3, family ticket £10 (available at the gate).
