Date Night Guide

Date Night Guide

Dating – this verb alone strikes fear into the hearts of many. It’s a potential minefield of romantic disasters from saying something inappropriate to wearing something, well, inappropriate. We’re not about to start dishing advice on either *vigorously swipes on Tinder* – what we can assist with however, is the location. Take a look at the top date hotspots in South Bank and get ready to pucker up.

  • First Date Nerves – Southbank Centre

Quell any awkward first-date nerves with a trip to the Southbank Centre. With plenty to see and do, you won’t be stuck for conversation (cringe) and you’ll have your eyes opened by one of the many awesome performances and art installations.

  • Movie Magic – BFI Southbank and IMAX

Ah, the classic date – a trip to the pictures. However a visit to either BFI Southbank or BFI IMAX is no ordinary cinema experience. For independent, arty genres go for the former, for big budget blockbusters, the IMAX (home to the biggest screen in the UK no less) is your guy.

  • Music and cocktails - Spiritland

Looking to impress? Head to music lovers paradise, Spriritland and enjoy the sweet sounds of guest DJs playing the cream of there collections over dinner and cocktails. With a 2am license, you can relax until late.

  • Cruise Control - Thames Clipper

For an altogether more chilled affair, board the Love Boat and set sail down the river aboard the Thames Clipper. We recommend the River Roamer pass, simply hop on and off at various locations and grab a refreshing beverage or two. Perfect date right there.

  • If Music Be the Food of Love... – Primo Bar

Are you a smooth operator? Or, at least, a wannabe smooth operator? Take your date to the super-slick Primo Bar for several of their signature cocktails. With free live music most evenings by a variety of soul, jazz and reggae artists it will impress the most high-maintenance of dates.

First date? Head to Leake Steet’s board game café, Draughts. With a library of 800+ board games (and an extensive drink’s menu) we can guarantee no awkward silences.

  • Making Memories – Coca-Cola London Eye

We’re desperately trying not to make anyone feel queasy, but you can’t really top the Coca-Cola London Eye in the romance stakes. You can even have ultimate date and get married on there! So sail high into the sky and brace yourselves for one romantic ride.
