Southbank Christmas Shopping Guide

December 3rd, 2018 | by Ella Stern

South Bank Christmas Shopping Guide

South Bank is your go to shopping destination for unique Christmas gifts. If you are looking for something different, something no one else has...step right this way. Oxo Tower Wharf and Gabriel’s Wharf, house many independent design shops selling one off pieces, original handmade jewellery, interiors and more. Whilst the South Bank Centre's Christmas Market offers the very best in artisan gifts (and you can sip on mulled wine whist you peruse). Along with the South Bank Centre's shop that has a range of design led pieces, there is contemporary jewellery exhibition, Dazzle where you can be sure to find something for the person that wants what no one else has.

Take a look at some of our top picks and start feeling inspired!

  • Oxo Tower Wharf

Oxo Tower Wharf is home to some of the UK’s most innovative and internationally renowned contemporary designers that London has to offer. Our top pick from the Tower  are duo, Patsy and Steven that make up brand, ‘Moxon.’ They are dedicated to discovering the best in design, sourcing original products from some the best emerging designers. Their broad range of stylish design pieces make for the perfect stop for unique and head turning Christmas gifts.

  • Imperial War Museum Shop

The Imperial War Museum records and tells the stories of those who have lived, fought and died in conflict since 1914. Your purchases ensure these stories are heard. Our top pick is ‘Love Letter's of the Great War’. A book that brings together some of the most romantic correspondence ever written. Many of the letters collected here are eloquent declarations of love and longing; others contain wrenching accounts of fear, jealousy and betrayal; and a number share sweet dreams of home.

  • Southbank Centre Shop

Based in the Southbank Centre, the shop presents a range of design led and stylish interiors, exclusive designer collaborations, ceramics, textiles, prints and jewellery, plus a diverse range of books selected by Hayward Gallery’s curatorial team. Our pick from the shop is a tea towel printed with the iconic 'Be Nice' painting by artist, David Schrigley.

  • Gabriel's Wharf

The arty enclave, Gabriel's Wharf, offers unique shopping, from jewellery and fashion, to fair-trade furnishings and affordable artwork. Our pick is independent shop, The Garden Shack.

Plants we are told create a healthy home. And if you are stuck with what to buy someone this year, we think an indoor plant is the perfect unlikely and fail safe present. You will find heaps of green inspiration at The Garden Shack, the urban Oasis, tucked within Gabriel's Wharf. Head over to find a wealth of plants and pots, to make someones home feel lighter and brighter.
