Attractions: What's Open in South Bank

Attractions: What's Open in South Bank

We're excited to see some of our favourite attractions from across South Bank are beginning to safely reopen to the public. To let you know what's open around South Bank, we've rounded up some of the best things to do and see this August and September; you'll also find links below to all of the safety and security measures they've put in place.

  • Florence Nightingale Museum

The Lady with the Lamp is back in South Bank from the 1st of August! The Florence Nightingale Museum uncovers the life and work of the world's most famous nurse: 2020 is Florence's bicentenary year, and the WHO has named 2020 the Year of the Nurse & Midwife. There's no better time to learn all about the woman who founded modern nursing and campaigned for better sanitation to improve public health.

The museum is reopening with social distancing, timed visitor slots and enhanced cleaning throughout: to book your tickets, click here

  • Hayward Gallery

We're excited to say that the Hayward Gallery will be reopening to the general public on August 1st. They're returning with their Among the Trees exhibition: by turns poetic, adventurous and thought-provoking, this group exhibition explores our relationship with trees and forests.

Tickets are free for NHS workers and £5 for Lambeth residents and those under 30. For safety reasons, prebooking online is required: for further information, please see here

    Southbank Centre
  • London Eye

We're so glad to say that the pods of the iconic London Eye will be turning again from the 1st of August! Alongside this, the London Dungeon, SEA Life London Aquarium and Shrek's Adventures will all be reopening too, so what better time to make a day of it out in South Bank.

Each venue has been awarded the VisitEngland ‘We’re Good to Go’ industry charter mark, which verifies that their attraction meets the Government and public health guidance on COVID-19.

Prebooking online is now essential for all 4 venues: for further info on all of the safety measures in place on the Eye, please see here London Eye
  • City Cruises Showboat Cruise

Take a trip down the river on a City Cruises Showboat Cruise, and wine, dine and dance on this great dinner cruise on the Thames. See spectacular views of London’s iconic sights whilst enjoying show songs and top hits sung by a live performer.

There's no better time to book, as City Cruises are offering 20% off all dining experiences! To redeem, quote DINESOUTHBANK when you book: the offer applies to all bookings made in October 2020, travelled until November 31st 2020.

The Imperial War Museum London tells the stories of those whose lives have been shaped by war through the depth, breadth and impact of their galleries, displays and events: their powerful exhibitions will be open to the public again from the 1st of August

IWM London is completely free to visit. They are strongly advising to prebook tickets, to make sure you can access the museum in your preferred time slot; for further information, please see here

  • Sea Containers Staycation

One of our favourite iconic hotels, Sea Containers London, is reopening its rooms from the 15th of August

Swing by Sea Containers Restaurant, which is open from the 1st of August, or if you want to indulge in the ultimate Treat Yourself moment this summer, book yourself in for a weekend staycation. If you’re after a stroll on the South Bank and dinner with a view, book their Plan B package: who needs Côte d’Azur, when you’ve got Thames Riviera?

If you’re still looking for more reasons to book, there is a complimentary upgrade to the best room available as well as a late checkout at 6pm to make the most of your staycation! To find out more, see here
