The Red Barn

David Hare brings Georges Simenson’s novel La Main to life in this new play, directed by Olivier Award-winning Robert Icke.

Based in sixties Connecticut, on their way back from a party, two couples struggle home through the snow. Not everyone arrives safely...

With a cast including Mark Strong (A View from the Bridge,) Hope Davis (God of Carnage,) and Elizabeth Debicki (The Night Manager), David Hare brings his adaptation of Georges Simenson’s novel La Main, to the National Theatre.

Detective writer Georges Simenon escaped France at the end of World War Two, and arrived in the USA, where he settled at Shadow Rock Farm in Lakeville with his American wife. Years later, he wrote La Main, a psychological thriller set in a New England farmhouse, which forms the basis for this startling new play.

*Please note: Due to the tense nature of the play there will be no re-admittance.
