Rafe Spall joins the cast of ‘Hedda Gabler’
Rafe Spall joins the cast of ‘Hedda Gabler’ alongside Kyle Soller and with Ruth Wilson in the title role at the National Theatre.
Hedda Gabler, written by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen will be performed in a new version by Patrick Marber from 5 December, with tickets going on public sale from today for the National Theatre’s September – February season.
This vital new version by Patrick Marber (Three Days in the Country, The Red Lion) sees Ruth Wilson (Luther, The Affair) return to the NT to play the title role alongside a cast which includes Rafe Spall (Constellations) Chukwudi Iwuji, currently playing Hamlet for the Public Theatre in New York, Kate Duchêne, Éva Magyar, Sinéad Matthews and Kyle Soller, who is currently appearing as Francis in the BBC’s Poldark.
Ivo van Hove, one of the world’s most exciting directors, makes his National Theatre debut with a modern production of Ibsen’s masterpiece. Hedda Gabler previews from 5 December in the Lyttelton Theatre. Press night is 12 December. The production will continue in repertoire with additional performances to be announced.
Hedda Gabler will be broadcast by NT Live to cinemas around the world on 9 March with encore performances from 23 March.
