Autumn Half Term

Autumn is a season of delights: the new school term; spooky Halloween; long walks on crisp, clear mornings; golden leaves; and Bonfire Night. And, right in the middle – before your thoughts turn to Christmas trees and carol concerts – there’s Half Term, providing the perfect opportunity to get out and enjoy all that the South Bank has to offer!

Teens are notoriously difficult to entertain, but you can’t go wrong with an afternoon at the über-cool House of Vans, where youngsters can enjoy a free session in the underground skate park, followed by burgers and shakes in the diner-style café bar.

And who says Fine Dining is just for grown-ups? The kids can eat completely free at several of the South Bank’s most salubrious establishments, including Gillray’s Steakhouse at the newly refurbished London Marriott Hotel County Hall, Sea Containers at Mondrian London, and – for half term only – children eat free with City Cruises dining trips, too!

The wild-haired stars of DreamWorks’ latest animation Trolls are joining our favourite green ogre and all his friends at Shrek’s Adventure London this Half Term. Expect madcap adventure, live action and stunning special effects at this immersive attraction.

Come face-to-face with the wild creatures that lurk in the world’s oceans at SEA LIFE London Aquarium. Don’t miss the talks and feeding displays that allow you to find out more about piranhas, octopi, penguins and other fabulous fishy beasts!

WHY? What's Happening for the Young returns to the Southbank Centre to explore the right to freedom of expression, play, care, safety and access to the arts and culture through a series of stimulating performances, workshops, talks and debates.

See the capital from different perspectives as you take a tour of London in an original WW2 amphibious vehicle, The London Duck with London Duck Tours. Enjoy the sights by road, complete with a fascinating commentary, then hold on tight as you splash down for a river cruise!

The permanent exhibition at the Florence Nightingale Museum provides a fascinating insight into the life and times of The Lady of the Lamp. Throughout Half Term, children can also participate in a range of events including craft workshops and storytelling.
