380:1 As Part of LDF

‘380:1’ is an educational installation by Friche Studio aiming to raise awareness around air pollution and climate change by displaying 380 sapling trees, signifying the number of adults trees required to absorb the CO2 consumption of one person in one year. Alongside the installation a programme of talks, workshops and performances will take place within the structure to engage the public in a conversation about air pollution, climate change and the politics of ecology.

During the festival they will present a programme of talks on the politics of Ecology in Urban Planning, tales on London air pollution, performances by cheerleaders against climate change and practical and poetic design workshops to think about devices and strategies to tackle air pollution.

After the festival, the trees will be rehoused in South London by Trees for Cities a charity creating tree planting programmes around London. This new green space will be an opportunity for its local community to learn and care for trees and improve their lifestyle in the city.

Discover Oxo Tower Wharf

Oxo Tower Wharf is an award-winning, landmark building situated on the riverside walkway part of London’s fast moving South Bank and Bankside areas.

Oxo Tower Wharf is home to some of the UK’s most innovative and internationally renowned contemporary designers, restaurants, cafes, bars and exhibition venues gallery@oxo and Bargehouse.

The Oxo Tower has been a riverside landmark since the 1930s. During its industrial heyday, it was owned by the makers of the OXO brand and has had numerous and varied uses since. By the 1970s it had fallen into disrepair and was largely derelict. In the 1990s Oxo Tower Wharf entered a new lease of life when Coin Street Community Builders (CSCB) began a major refurbishment project to transform the building into an award-winning mixed-use development of co-operative homes, retail design studios, specialist shops, galleries, restaurants, cafes and bars.
